#057: Living in a neurodiverse family. Boundaries, superpowers and sparks of wonder

As April is world autism day I asked Claire if she’d be willing to come on the podcast to help raise awareness around autism and authenticity.

Claire Brittain is a medical statistician who has worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for 20 years supporting trials across many therapeutic areas. Claire has an overwhelming passion for inspiring the next generation of statisticians whether that be through her non-profit work, mentoring as well as the people she’s managed through her career.  Claire has 3 boys aged 12, 8 and 7 of which 2 have been diagnosed as autistic. In her spare time she likes to run and in 2023 she completed 12 half marathons for Beyond Autism. So impressive!

What you’ll hear about:

  • The broad diversity in autism diagnosis

  • The changing understanding of autism within the general public

  • Young careers support

  • Support for neurotypical children

  • Finding time for yourself

  • Don’t worry about terminology. The conversation is the important part

  • Superpowers

  • Living in a state of wonder

  • Resetting what “normal” is

  • Neurodiversity often isn’t just one condition

  • Needing to think about the whole person
